This project was encouraged to be a radical reimagining of a Berlin penthouse. Harking back to 1970s experimental design and the notion of an all in one unit that can be unfurled with all the necessary equipment for living, we designed multiple patchwork mirrored elements containing kitchen, seating, & cabinetry that suggest they too were once combined into a system for living. By cladding kitchen, living room and fireplace in the same material, the distinction of ‘rooms’ becomes insignificant and instead the space takes on a more fluid, continuous feeling as you travel through areas by way of the chosen material. The shine of the mirror is at once contemporary in its cold perfection and also historical, reminiscent of an almost Loosian sensuality and the playboy glamour of Paul Evans.
